Soldering 101

Workshop Description

Course Length: 90 minutes Instructor: Karen Giacopuzzi Cost: $30 Soldering is not child proof. The iron is hot, the risk is real and that's why kids love it. It requires focus and skill and the first time is a bit scary. It's also a great time to talk about acceptable risk. We have golf gloves and silicon fingertips for optional fingertip protection, but googles are required. This introduction to soldering includes wire splicing using a soldering iron and heat gun. We'll then move on to 'through hole soldering' and will solder this take home night light. This workshop is open to anyone age 10 over including adults. It's tons of fun and learning to solder is very gratifying. This is an am only workshop. If you need more daycare coverage your child can also sign up for the afternoon session and eat lunch here. There's no charge for the lunch hour. Note: This workshop will be required before taking more advanced soldering workshops.

Cancellation Policy

Gadget Lab is a small business and we cannot offer refunds. If you need to cancel we'll do our best to find another student to fill the slot. If we can find a replacement we'll send a full or pro-rated refund minus a $35 cancellation fee.
